Yesterday, I went out for a matinee showing of “Surrogates“. I’d been intrigued by the trailers for it, seeing as there seemed to be some extensive cyberpunk themes going on there. I came away disappointed. Not that those themes were not there, but rather the themes were presented in the same way that a child might present the Last Supper in finger paints.
I probably had too high of hopes for the intellectual content of the movie, it stars Bruce Willis after all, but I’m a sucker for cyberpunk movies.
Things I am also a sucker for: Interesting sounding cheeses, movies where geeks and their tools are portrayed accurately, projects that involve Alyson Hannigan, and DVDs featuring Kevin Smith entertaining an audience.
Please note that those last two are on the list for entirely different reasons.
